Have been hearing the term - PATTU. A Telugu/ South Indian term for pure silk cloth. PATTU lehenga is not just a word, it’s an emotion in this part of India.
Over the years I have constantly been requested by one & all to make a PATTU Lehenga until I made one.
My standard belief never encouraged me to take the dive into traditional clothing from another culture. I never thought I was cut for it since there are very many established names in here- I didn’t need to enter an unknown territory.
Until a dear client said & I quote, “we need your take on Pattu Lehengas” . This sounded as if a Punjabi is telling a South Indian to make their version of Patiala Suit. And boy oh boy- I sure wanted to take that up.
And here we are with our Uppada Checks Pattu Pleated lehenga paired with Uppada silk blouse thats hand embroidered.
We did it in the most festive- Flying Kites in the sky kinda color palette- Pinks, Greens, Yellows, Oranges, Purples etc.
